Why is my idea of a fun renewal of vows with an Elvis tribute artitst considered "tacky"?
Even though me and my husband are very spiritual people, we don't feel that our renewal of vows should be religious or serious. We are Christians, and the Elvis tribute artist is also a Christian.
Our friend (who attends a more charismatic church) told us that we we're "offending God with our tacky behavior", when it came to our renewal of vows. I told her she needs to lighten up, and stop being so darned serious all of the time. She didn't like what I had to say, but it's the truth. I love this woman very much, but her judgmental attitude is really starting to get on my last nerve.
So my question is: Why is my idea of a fun renewal of vows with an Elvis tribute artist considered "tacky"? Please no rude answers or stupid comments. Thanks.
My experience is that people tend to confuse weddings with marriage. A wedding is a party to reflect the bride and groom and should be done the way the bride and groom want it done. End of story. You owe no one an explanation.
I got married in Jamaica on the beach because to me that was important. I didnt take the wedding planning all that serious-but I take my marriage vows very seriously. My friend on the other hand-took her wedding planning very serious and her marriage is a joke.
You are married in the eyes of God because you took vows-no matter where those vows were taken. As long as you abide by them, that's all that matters. If your friend is so offended, then tell her she has the option of not coming.
